These people drove hundreds of miles just the dog could be with her family again.
Mother and son lovingly traveled hundreds of miles to reunite Piper with her old family. When Becky Brown’s US Air Force husband was sent to Germany in 2018, the family of five knew they needed to move to Germany. Europe, but could not take a dog with them.
Piper, a blue heeler/Labrador mix who was only three years old at the time, loved her family very much and her people adored her too, but they knew they had to let her go.
And as much as they wanted to take Piper when they got back, they didn’t want to put the dog’s new family in a situation where they had to take the dog away from them, thereby upsetting them.
They agreed that Piper would move in with a man in Kansas with whom she seemed to get along very well. The man kept sending them updates about his relationship with Piper, and the family was sure their dog was having a great time with them.
“We were just in shock,” Becca said. “We’re like, ’Oh’. Wow! It wasn’t what we expected. Last we heard, they’re doing great… We didn’t expect this”.
