That love at first sight came with snuggles and a promise of being siblings forever.
Depression and loneliness come when we lose someone. We have different grief processes, and some have a hard time with death and tragedy. After all, losing someone is never easy.
It will take time to move on, and some will look for a way to fill this void. This is also seen in animals. As pets, they lose a brother, sister, child, parent, or loved one, which can be devastating. But how can we help them move forward? Perhaps a new brother?
Emilia Ivan knew how her dog felt after losing her sister.
Martin once had a Labrador sister named Alma, whom he also considered his best friend. She died a year ago and he didn’t take it well.
“He was depressed because Alma was no longer around. He was very lonely and sad,” Emilia told The Dodo.
By chance, Emilia heard that an abandoned bear cub was lying in a nearby field.
The girl wanted to give the cat a loving home, but she wasn’t sure how Martin would react to the addition to the family.
There is a stereotype that dogs hate cats and vice versa, and that all they do is chase each other. But we have read about many cute dog and cat friends here on our site, haven’t we? Luckily, Emilia didn’t have to worry about Martin being introduced to a new puppy.
You can see how Martin was initially unaware of the kitten’s presence. But as soon as a ball of wool fell into his paw, he saw a kitten and immediately hugged and kissed her. You can also see how Emilia was both surprised and stunned by this interaction.
