«Even this is possible if people hope»: the Auschwitz prisoners with tattoos finally reunited

Not only good days and experiences are worthy to be remembered or celebrated.

Usually, people who have experienced the same feelings together, have something to remember.

However, not only good days and experiences are worthy of being remembered or noted.

This is especially true for a general injury known as «social glue» when people feel closer.

So, it was the same historical event that brought these people together.

Walter Spier and Werner Reich did not know each other when they were imprisoned during the Holocaust.

They were only 10 days from each other and became very connected souls since all men had the same fate.

During such events, it was very widespread to tattoo prisoners by numbering them.

They were arrested by the Gestapo in 1943, and you can perfectly guess what the future awaited them.

Fortunately, over the years, the US government managed to save hundreds of prisoners.

All these years in prison they hoped for freedom, they had this optimism and they believed that they would survive.

So, when the son of Walter learned about the story of his best friend, his son had the idea to organize a meeting between Warner and his father.

The boy wanted to reunite them after so many years through Sandy Bach, who was a documentary journalist.

So, the son managed to meet together with friends and communicate with them.

Men, although they managed to arrange their lives and lead loving and optimistic life, will never forget the experience.
