What an unexpected story: a group of horses adopt a lonely penguin who becomes a member of their family

Only these horses agreed to help the befuddled bird in a heartwarming sequence.

When it comes to unusual friendships between different animal species, nature never ceases to amaze me. This time, the herd of horses seems to be sharing friendly moments with the lost penguin.

The penguin separated from the rest of the group and found himself alone in the icy terrain of the Falkland Islands. According to the Daily Mail, only these horses agreed to help the bewildered bird in a touching episode depicting the most unlikely partnership.

Wildlife photographer Sarah Crofts of the Falkland Islands Conservation Group captured these moments. The lovely photos were taken in the Cape Pembrokeshire Nature Reserve. And I can’t imagine anything more exciting than the moment the horses meet.

“At first I couldn’t believe what I saw and I think the horses were just as surprised as I was.” I didn’t think the horses would be interested in the penguin, but they were completely fascinated by it. Sarah Crofts said, “I’m a big fan of horses and penguins, so it was a fantastic experience”.

The horses got the impression that the penguin was alone and scared. As a result, they did everything possible to ensure his safety and comfort.

Even if it was more like a game at first, horses eventually focus on the bird, just like parents do on their children.

“The horses were genuinely interested in the penguin and it seemed like a game to them as they took turns looking at it before turning around.

It seems that after a while the horses didn’t want to let the penguins out of their sight”, – Sarah said.
