The Zoo recently celebrated an adorable weekend event when two beloved pandas, Ding-Ding and Ruyi, celebrated their birthdays. Ding-Ding, a brave and energetic female, was four years old, and the fearless male Rui was five years old. Adored by visitors and caretakers alike, these adorable pandas are on the verge of adulthood yet retain their unique character. Ding-Ding is known for her wayward nature, while Ruyi is known for her straightforwardness, courage, and cheerful nature.
Zookeepers have spared no effort in preparing for the panda’s special day, starting preparations weeks in advance. They created two cardboard cakes decorated with various vegetables, fruits, and bamboo, and individual gifts for each panda. Ruyi got a large pool filled with their favorite treats, and colorful ice cones dyed with food coloring. What about Ding-Ding, she was treated to a huge ”cocktail glass” adorned with intriguing umbrellas.
Unlike many stereotypes, pandas are very active animals, requiring both physical and mental stimulation to keep from getting bored. To meet these needs, the zoo regularly engages Ding-Ding and Ruyi in training, providing them with many intricate toys and objects to explore.
The birthdays of these pandas are celebrated at the Zoo as significant events that highlight the love and care of these beloved creatures. Visitors and caretakers enjoy the holiday alike, making the event an unforgettable experience for everyone present.
