Jennifer Gray, one of the most beloved actresses of the 80s, unfortunately, got into the news for sad reasons. «Dirty Dancing», a classic film telling a love story between Francis «Baby» Houseman and dance teachers Johnny Castle, conquered the hearts of millions and sold by a circulation of more than a million copies on video cassettes. The original song for the film “I had a time of my life” received many awards, including the Oscar and the Golden Globe.

For Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze, the main actors in the film, this attracted attention to them, but Gray’s success was short-lived. The premiere of the film was preceded by a tragic case that prevented her from enjoying great success and all the attention of fans. Gray talks about his glory and the decision to leave Hollywood at the age of 27, years after «Dirty Dancing» became one of the best films of the decade.
In 1987, when the film premiered, Gray lived in Ireland with then-boyfriend of Matthew Broderick. The couple fell into a car accident in which the mother and her little daughter died. Broderick was charged with dangerous driving, which was later reduced to careless driving. Although Gray did not receive serious bodily harm, the tragedy deeply affected her, causing the guilt of the survivor and complicating her movement forward.
Gray underwent an operation on her nose to help herself, but everything went wrong as planned. Instead of making her feel better because of her appearance, Gray’s face became unrecognizable, because of which she said that she «as if participating in the program for protecting witnesses or invisible». This made her fight with the feeling of guilt of surviving even more.
However, ten years ago, Gray decided to return to the film industry and won the «Dancing with the Stars» television show, which helped her leave the past behind.
Currently, Gray returned to the big screen and starred in the films «Untogether», «Red Oaks», «Bittersweet Symphony», and «I am Patrick Swayze». Unfortunately, she had to go through serious medical problems, including a medical examination, which showed that she risks of being paralyzed. The titanium plate was screwed into her spine so that it would not paralyze her.
Gray also had cancer, but the doctors were able to remove it before it spread to other areas. In 2010, she underwent four serious operations, including the removal of the thyroid gland. Fortunately, now she feels great.
