A new and long-awaited addition to a pelican family.đ€
Mr. Percival and his partner have been nesting and caring for the eggs for many years in the hope that they will hatch and bear children. Unfortunately, none of their eggs hatched during this time. However, everything changed when their guardians came up with a plan to help the couple.
In September, the caretakers of two pelicans decided to leave another pelican’s egg in Mr. Percival’s nest. Mr. Percival never lost hope. They feel terrible because he sees others carrying newborn pelicans around them. This time they did something great for him to make him really happy.
Australian pelicans live mainly in wide areas of open water, devoid of dense aquatic vegetation, and live in huge colonies. They usually lay one to three eggs a year, and their adorable babies are born blind, naked, and completely dependent on their parents to live.
After many days in Mr. Percival’s nest, the egg hatched and everyone waited to see how the duo would react. When the big day came, Mr. Percival’s excitement was great. Percival has proven himself to be a very attentive and devoted father from the moment the chick hatches, fully dedicated to the welfare of his offspring.
Mr. Percival shares all the responsibilities of raising a chick, including feeding and nesting, with his sweetheart, who is also very happy to have a chick. According to representatives of the center, the chick regularly grows, because his father always takes care of him.
