The blind dog can move freely with encouragement from the big brother.đ€đ
It was quite difficult. The house’s basement is partitioned off, and she lived exclusively on the ground level for the first few weeks, making no effort to climb up to the kitchen area. Bonney will try at his own pace, so Pombeiro didn’t rule that out. Wookie, his big brother, wanted to guide him.
”She would take a few steps and then lose confidence and walk back down,” Pombeiro explained. Then one day a friend walked by. Bonnie ran all the way upstairs to see him as they talked in the kitchen.
Pombeiro explained. ”I would sit next to her and just talk to her.” Wookie was running up and down the stairs as if to show her what to do. It was really awesome.
The special needs dog immediately warmed to Wookie. He is always there to take her for walks and they love to sleep and play together. She continued. ”Bonnie is amazing. you’d never think she was blind.” She paints a room, stumbles into things, finds out where they are, and then doesn’t come back.
Bonnie often uses stairs once she has overcome her phobia of them. But with a Wookie on her side, she feels more confident. She trusts only the bell they put on the Wookie’s collar to let him know where he is. She follows hers and always sits next to him.
