«Some kind of magic phenomenon in nature»: the rock produces stone eggs once every 30 years

The hardest stones fall as the rock is demolished.

Chan and I, a mysterious place where, every 30 years, a rocky formation lays perfectly round stones, is located in the Guizhou Province of China’s Qiannan Bui-Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

Geologists have been confused by this phenomenon for many years since it has not yet been completely studied. Only 2.7 meters in height, the rock is a strongly blurry structure with dozens of round and oval stones of different sizes that cover its surface. The hardest stones fall when the rock is destroyed, but they say that new ones appear in their place.

About once every 30 years, this event takes place. Geologists have checked the thick solid layers, of which Gandeng mountain consists of. However, the limestone mountain mass has a unique area, which is relatively easy to destroy.

These stones gradually rise to the surface, creating the impression that the rock lay eggs. Why the limestone mass formed in the Cambrian era, about 500 years ago, has been preserved so far, remains a mystery. Chan Da Ya’s slope and I are also covered with unusual spherical stones, which adds mystery to this place. Geologists have attempted to answer Chan Da Ya’s mystery, but they have not been successful.
