Adopting a shelter dog is always a cause for celebration, and sometimes it’s just the right time for those dogs to find their forever homes.
This was the case of Lizzy, a pregnant terrier who was rescued just in time by Rebecca Lynch, executive director of Florida Poodle and Pooch Rescue. Lizzy was in a high-kill shelter in Georgia and had a broken limb that made her condition unstable.
Rebecca and her husband decided to visit a shelter while on vacation in Georgia to adopt a dog, specifically the neediest puppy. Lizzy was that dog, and Rebecca made a cozy space in her car for the drive back to Florida. During the trip, Lizzy gave birth to healthy puppies. After a dramatic journey, Lizzy and all her puppies found their forever homes.
Despite her tragic origins, Lizzy has adapted well to her new home and has become a happy and devoted dog. Rebecca describes him as adorable and kind-hearted. The timing of Lizzy’s adoption couldn’t have been more suitable, and it’s a journey Rebecca will always remember.
