Daisy and Mojaji would never meet in the wild.

At Rhino Sanctuary, a young zebra and rhino have become unwitting friends and are always staying together.

In South Africa’s Kruger National Park, rangers found Daisy struggling and alone in early December. Daisy was barely a few hours old and quite fragile, so rescuers rushed her to the sanctuary’s emergency room.

Daisy required 24/7 care and feeding, also treatments, to strengthen her immune system and help her maintain a stable body temperature.

Daisy wasn’t the only newborn at the hospital, either.

According to Louwhen Bowker, media coordinator for Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary, ”Modjaji was brought to the sanctuary’s ICU in late November after he was found almost died as it underwent to many unfavorable conditions.” Mojaji was over a week old.

The two young orphans grew close and eventually couldn’t stay without each other’s company.

As they gained courage and strength, their curiosity got the better of them, and they began to communicate with each other. “Because they are very social animals, rhinos need companionship. Daisy finds Mojaji very handsome and enjoys being around him.

After spending a month together, Mojaji and Daisy become more like each other. They follow each other wherever they go.
