Pablo Reinoso, a French-Argentine designer, thinks that artwork constantly alters the place in which it exists. He continues, ”It can bring a new significance, an added to the initial, and a unique perspective of view to the surroundings where it is written.” Reinoso’s fluid chairs do an excellent job of exploring the locations in which they are placed in surprising ways. To make theatrical motions throughout a space or public area, pieces of wood and metal appear to burst away from standard seats or frameworks.

Reinoso created his initial piece of wood at the age of six after being exposed to woodworking by his grandpa. He went on to study design at the University of Argentina before travelling to France and starting his profession as a designer of high-end goods. Reinoso’s document represents these three key inspirations of woodwork, building, and product development. Despite the fact that his work covers a wide range of sizes, materials, and applications, they are all unified in their examination of art vs utility.

Spaghetti Bench, one of his most well-known installation pieces, displays the metamorphosis of basic wooden chairs. ”The Spaghetti Chairs actually blossom,” Reinoso says, ”the wooden boards swirl out into patterns that resemble trees and the natural forces.” The substance reverts to its former existence as a tree, a living thing, reclaiming its natural liberty.” This design allows for a wide range of seats, some gently curled to produce art, some linked by these nearby trees, and many others yet so grown that they no longer fulfil their original function.

Comparable curved shapes can be found in another series called Garabatos, which translates to ”scrawls.” This updated version is done in black metal and is based on scrawls or drawings that one might make to express their ingenuity. Rather than the wood grain chairs’ fairly organised development, this instructional program for a chaotic and unrestrained construction of curves and circles. These episodes demonstrate Reinoso’s expertise of this genre.

On Reinoso’s site, you may discover the Spaghetti Chairs, Garabatos, Thoneteando collection, and more. On January 16, 2020 until May 11, 2020, you may see his most recent projects at An Anxious Spring, a group of artworks organised by Musée des Arts Effect”.

The fluid bending chairs by Pablo Reinoso investigate the surroundings they occupy in unpredictable ways.
