The story of Jack, a police horse from Liverpool, UK, who refuses to start his workday without a cup of sweet tea has become famous on social media.
According to the Daily Mail, Jack, now 20, first tried sweet tea when he was five and has been addicted to it ever since. He insists on making tea properly with skimmed milk, two tablespoons of sugar, and a little cold water so as not to burn himself.
The Merseyside Mounted Police Department now starts every day with a tea party with Jack, who lives in his cubicle with his nose in sawdust, looking forward to his tea. However, while Jack’s love of tea may seem endearing, the stable staff have learned to be careful with him with mugs, as he tends to take tea away from anyone he sees with a cup in hand.
Despite this, Lindsay Gaven, head of the police department and part-time riding coach, describes Jack as having a strong character, and the department will gladly take into account his unique tea preferences.
