15-year-old senior dog and a younger puppy
Regardless of the situation, as an animal lover, I find it impossible to understand how somebody could abandon their cherished pet.
Although hearing such stories breaks my heart, the truth is that there are many cold-blooded individuals who are capable of executing such things.
Another such is Cookie, a senior stray dog who was found by volunteers at a San Bernardino shelter.
The staff looked into her after she was accepted into the shelter in an effort to get in touch with her family.
Indeed, that is what they did. But when they got there to get Cookie, they did the unimaginable.
For no apparent reason, they chose to give up 15 years of loyalty and adopt a younger puppy.
They simply left Cookie there, crying bitterly since she was unable to understand what was happening. This is a really distressing sight.
Fortunately, word spread, and a rescue organization started hunting for Cookie a permanent residence.
However, due to her physical state, adoption was not an option for her.
She was thus placed in a foster family, where she will live out the rest of her days content.
We all wish her and her new family a lifetime of joy.
Even though this is a happy conclusion, not all creatures are as fortunate.
