These creatures would be in dire straits without help.
Heavy rains caused huge flooding in many southern states, and many people and animals were forced from their homes due to the bad weather.
In Mississippi, two boys noticed that there were animals in need and decided to help.
Dodo was informed at the time by Frankie Williams, a 26-year-old plumber who also worked for a landscaping company. âMy brother and I kept noticing various creatures coming out of the flooded forest and heading towards the lawn in front of our house. ”.
âWe had a small boat at our disposal to explore the flooded forests. We rescued many field mice, groundhogs, and rabbits as we traveled through flooded fields to reach the forest, he added.
Some water animals could find safety, but the opossums and armadillos were left alone on patches of ground, having no choice but to cling to whatever they could find to avoid being swept away by the rising floodwaters.
Then Williams and his brother set out, loading the ship with every frightened animal they came across. The creatures were released as soon as the water level began to recede.
Williams said: âI love every creature in our nature. I don’t like to see any animal suffer.”
