The manatee has been sent for rehab and is now ready to return to the wild.
In the spring, the manatee was spotted on the Palm Coast near Jacksonville. He was in a very terrible state, on the verge of death.
During the first examination, the animal was immediately put on treatment to improve the low blood glucose levels.
The manatee named Gerard was sent to the Manatee Intensive Care Unit at the Jacksonville Zoo and is now ready to return to the wild.
Prior to Gerard’s release, experts at the Clearwater Institute named him a satellite to track his whereabouts.
Manatees have the status of endangered species. These animals suffer from red tides, diseases, collisions with boats.
Another problem that has been discovered recently is the lack of food that the manatees feed on.
Thanks the defenders of wildlife, who always remember these animals.
