Braiding Art: How Laetitia’s Hair Creations Became a Platform for Feminism and Empowerment

At first, it was just entertainment, but over time, everything changed.đŸ„č😊

This girl named Laetitia creates unique figures from her hair and metal wire. She always loved to braid her hair and learned it when she was 5 years old. She practiced on the hair of her mother and sister. And she just fell in love with her natural hair.

«8 years ago I was with my natural hair but then I wanted to braid again. At first, I just had fun with it but then everything changed. I saw the impact my work can have on people I saw that everyone is interested in it and I become serious.

In my work, I always show everyone my love for my hair and my tolerance. I do it so that people just admire my work», says the girl. When she became interested in feminism her work was already at the highest level.

In 2017 the girl joined the #MeToo movement, she created a sculpture of a man who looks under a woman’s skirt.

«It’s very important for me as for an African, as for a person who is harassed every day, says the girl. She asked her subscribers to talk to her.

«There were such stories that were incredibly sad and I’m glad that at least people were able to speak out and tell their stories thanks to my creativity. These messages are always very important to me», she says.

She is actively developing her Instagram and TikTok accounts. For example, she has one video in which she asked her friends to come up with hairstyle ideas and she turned them into reality, which gained 30 million views.
