An unexpected unique shot: this giant white whale was spotted off the coast of New South Wales

The rare occurrence was caught on camera by the 16-year-old boy.

An incredible sighting of an all-white whale off the coast of Australia has caused a stir on social media, with wildlife enthusiasts speculating that it could be the famous and beloved baby Migaloo.

A rare occurrence was caught on camera by 16-year-old Braden Blake at Fingal Head, Coolangatta, where magical creatures swim about 1,600 feet above sea level.

The teenager, like many others who saw his footage, at first thought that the white whale was Migaloo, but it turned out to be a different white whale. And there is a strong possibility that this is Migaloo ’s child.

“For the first time, I can tell that the white whale I’m looking at could be a white whale and not Migaloo”, marine expert Dr. Wally Franklin told 9NEWS.

“The timing of the sighting is consistent with this being a young whale because it’s so early in the season … it could be a second white whale, which in itself would be incredible”.

The legendary Migaloo, whose name is an Australian Aboriginal term meaning “white girl”, was first sighted in 1991 and is known to be the only white whale living off the coast of Australia.

According to Dr. Franklin, over 40,000 whales live in these waters.
