This Colombian farmer thought he was helping a stray kitten when he was actually saving a wild cat’s life. Elber Guzman was riding a motorcycle when he saw a small creature on the side of the road and immediately rushed to his aid.
However, a few days later, he discovered that the little cat he had rescued was actually a newborn cougar.
Guzmán’s main idea was to help because there were many abandoned animals in this part of the country.
So when she saw the frightened cub, she picked it up and carried it to her home, where she nursed and nursed it. However, he noticed that the little creature did not behave like a cat.
“I picked him up on the road and he looked like a cat, and I thought to myself, ‘poor little animal, it must have got lost in this desert place,’ so I better take him home,” remarked the kind farmer. .
“I looked at him carefully and suspected something was wrong, because he had a long tail and round ears. Moreover, his behavior was not identical to that of domestic cats.”
Guzmán contacted the Tolima Regional Autonomous Corporation, the country’s environmental agency, and they sent someone to check on the rescued ”kitten”.
It turns out the little animal the farmer rescued was a cougar, not a domestic cat.
