Nelson started accompanying Steyaert, a women’s clothing seller, to open-air markets and street fairs in Belgium when he was still a puppy.
Steyert said: ”He is a very sensitive dog. Although he is a calm and cool dog at home, he does not like to be alone. He likes being outside the most.’â
Instead of leaving him at home during the day, Steyaert kept Nelson in front of her stand with his blanket while she worked. He could chill out there and watch his surroundings.
Nelson quickly realized that staying calm would attract customers’ interest.
Steyaert said: âWhat gets me the most is when he raises his paw to shake with others. He is great at winning people’s hearts.
Nelson can get anything from random flips to maximum love from people who walk by his mom’s place of work. He has been described by several people as a ”lovely and gentle dog”. Some people even treat him with sweets.
